Chief Minister Sai Addresses Bastar District Journalist Association’s Oath Ceremony
Raipur >> This year, as I was reading the newspaper on New Year’s Day, Bastar was in the headlines. These headlines were not about Maoist violence, but about the light of development that has reached Bastar. Maoist terror in Bastar has now diminished. Bastar’s identity has changed. These remarks were made by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai while addressing the newly elected office-bearers of the Bastar District Journalist Association during their oath ceremony. He mentioned that Bastar has its own challenges, and practicing journalism in such a challenging environment is also a difficult task. He expressed his respect for the efforts of journalists in presenting the hopes, ideas, and issues of the common people before the government and administration.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw emphasized that as the fourth pillar of democracy, journalism should adhere to high standards and inform the public about the government’s good work, while also highlighting its shortcomings. Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap stated that journalists in Bastar have played an important role in establishing new dimensions in journalism.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Sai administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers of the Bastar District Journalist Association and extended his congratulations and best wishes for the New Year. The program was also addressed by Bastar District Journalist Association President Manish Gupta. Sports Minister Tankaram Verma and a large number of journalists were present at the event.
