Food Minister Chairs Meeting to Ensure 100% Rice Procurement Resolution
Raipur >>A meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Food Minister Shri Dayal Das Baghel, was held today at the Mahanadi Bhavan Ministry. The committee discussed the resolution of the anticipated 160-165 lakh metric tons of rice procurement for the ongoing Kharif season. A total of 125 lakh metric tons of rice will be processed under the central and state pool. Extensive discussions were held regarding the auction process for an excess of 40 lakh metric tons of rice, with the tender process set to begin in the second week of February. The final decision will be taken in the Cabinet meeting.
The state has procured over 113 lakh metric tons of rice so far. Approximately 21.54 lakh farmers have been paid INR 25,549 crore under the bank linkage system. The meeting also reviewed the procurement process, the lifting of rice for custom milling, and the availability of baradanas for farmers. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, and 20-point Implementation Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.
