Honoring Beneficiaries of Prime Minister’s Schemes: A Historic Event in Nagpura

An extraordinary and emotional event was held today in Nagpura village of Durg district. Honorable Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai honored the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, Niyad Nella Nar Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).

Washing the feet of the beneficiaries to honor them is a profound example of Indian culture and compassion. It is not only a symbol of gratitude but also conveys a strong message of dedication to society.

The joy of the beneficiaries receiving new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) was clearly visible on their faces during the program. Chief Minister Sai remarked that these schemes have brought a transformative change in the lives of the poor and needy families. Congratulating the beneficiaries, he said, “MOR Awas, MOR Adhikar” (My Home, My Right) has now become a reality.

On this occasion, the beneficiaries expressed their happiness and gratitude, calling it the greatest gift of their lives. This event reflects the Chhattisgarh government’s unwavering commitment to the upliftment of the poor and underprivileged.

Raipur >>Union Minister for Agriculture, Panchayat, and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that the “double engine” government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the center and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Chhattisgarh is working with full dedication to transform the state’s destiny. Addressing the “Mor Awas Mor Adhikar” program in Nagpura, Durg, he ceremoniously honored the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by washing their feet. Chouhan also announced 3,03,384 new houses under the scheme for Chhattisgarh.

Chouhan highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to providing homes for the poor, which is now a reality. He noted that 8.47 lakh houses have already been approved in Chhattisgarh, with new eligibility criteria making the scheme more inclusive. The income limit has been raised to ₹15,000, and those owning up to 2.5 acres of irrigated or 5 acres of unirrigated land are now eligible. Beneficiaries can also apply and survey for homes independently.

He also emphasized agricultural reforms under PM Modi, focusing on enhancing crop production, reducing costs, and diversifying farming. Initiatives like the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme empower women and strengthen the rural economy.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai celebrated the transformation brought by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which has fulfilled the dream of housing for millions. Within a year of the state’s double-engine government, 18 lakh houses were approved, and a record 145 lakh metric tons of paddy was procured, transferring ₹49,000 crore to farmers’ accounts.

The state has integrated GIS mapping to expedite housing projects and ensured low-cost construction materials through self-help groups under the “Lakhpati Didi” program, empowering women and improving efficiency. A toll-free helpline has also been established for grievances. Special initiatives include constructing 15,000 homes for surrendered Maoists and Naxal-affected families and accelerating the implementation of the PM Janman Yojana for marginalized tribes.

Speaker Dr. Raman Singh lauded the coordination between the central and state governments, resulting in significant progress in housing and road infrastructure. Deputy CM Vijay Sharma mentioned that 32,000 houses have been approved under the PM Janman Yojana, with 2,449 km of rural roads connecting villages across the state.

The program also honored outstanding gram panchayats, block panchayats, and NGOs. Beneficiaries of individual toilet construction received incentives, and “Drone Didis” and “Lakhpati Didis” were felicitated for their contributions. Land ownership documents were distributed under the Swamitva scheme.

Deputy CM Arun Saw, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, and other dignitaries, along with thousands of villagers, attended the event.
