Congress’s Corruption in Urban Bodies Caused Public Distress, BJP Will Ensure People’s Money Reaches the Public : Arun Saw

Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw stated that the upcoming Urban Body and Three-Tier Panchayat elections in Chhattisgarh are primarily aimed at converting the trust we have earned during our first year in office into a mandate. Last month, we completed one year of our “Janadesh Parab” program, which signifies the trust we have built among the people. Saw mentioned that the decision to hold both urban body and panchayat elections simultaneously is a decisive step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of One Nation, One Election.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Ekta Complex BJP office on Tuesday, Saw emphasized that the state government, under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership, has declared this year as the “Atal Nirman Year.” This year marks the centenary of the birth of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Saw stated that during this “Atal Nirman Year,” the government will focus heavily on infrastructure, with the urban bodies set to benefit the most.

He pointed out that under the BJP’s mantra We Built It, We Will Beautify It, a new chapter of development has been written in the state. He highlighted the significant work done by both the central and state BJP governments, and assured that the promises made in the last year have been fulfilled. Now, the same vision of development will reach urban municipalities, corporations, and district councils, bringing progress to every city, ward, street, and even home. Saw emphasized that the goal is to provide every citizen of Chhattisgarh with a clean, beautiful, and prosperous life, in contrast to the corruption and misgovernance of Congress.

Saw criticized Congress for its failure to deliver on promises after winning elections in 2018 and 2019. He stated that during Congress rule, development projects were halted, and cities were plagued by poor sanitation and infrastructure. In the last 13 months, the BJP government has approved over 7,300 crore rupees for urban development. Under the “Mission Amrit” scheme, five cities have been granted sewage treatment plants costing 865 crore rupees.

He further added that under the central government’s “Mission Amrit 2.0,” projects worth 2,130 crore rupees have been approved to provide water supply in 45 cities, and 113 crore rupees have been allocated for the renovation of ponds and parks. Saw mentioned that during Congress’s tenure, the cleanliness of cities deteriorated, and now, through the Swachh Bharat Mission, efforts are being made to improve sanitation.

Saw also noted the widespread corruption in Congress’s rule, citing several scams, including the CGPSC and coal scams, which involved the misappropriation of public funds. He highlighted that the BJP government is committed to transparency, accountability, and improving the lives of the people.

Saw reiterated that the upcoming elections are not just about electing representatives but about shaping the future of Chhattisgarh’s cities. The BJP’s focus will be on implementing essential projects that directly benefit the public, unlike the Congress, which obstructed key central schemes like PMAY and Swachh Bharat. He concluded by stating that the BJP has consistently delivered on its promises and will continue to serve the people of Chhattisgarh with dedication.
