Successful ‘Pre-Bid Conference’ for Iron Ore Block Auction in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, 14 February 2025 – The Directorate of Geology and Mining, Chhattisgarh, organized a ‘Pre-Bid Conference’ today at the Convention Hall of New Circuit House, Nawa Raipur, regarding the auction of iron ore blocks in Bailadila, Bastar. The event saw participation from mining investors and bidders across the country, with detailed discussions on the auction process, investment opportunities, and mineral resources.

The conference focused on the auction process for three world-class iron ore blocks in Dantewada and one block in North Bastar Kanker. Senior officials and experts from the Mineral Department addressed participants’ queries and explained the e-auction process.

Secretary of the Mineral Department, Mr. P. Dayanand, stated that Chhattisgarh is a state with immense mineral potential, offering vast opportunities for industrial, trade, and employment growth. He emphasized that Chhattisgarh will play a crucial role in realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, as the state holds vast reserves of high-quality iron ore. Inviting bidders to invest in Chhattisgarh, he assured them of full government support. He highlighted that the Bailadila region is the backbone of India’s steel industry, and its development will significantly boost the local economy and employment.

GSI Deputy Director General Mr. Amit Dharwadkar noted that Chhattisgarh is the second-most mineral-rich state in India. He stated that the iron ore belt from Bailadila to Dalli-Rajhara is among the world’s most significant reserves, playing a key role in meeting the demands of India’s steel industry.

Mr. Sunil Kumar Jain, Director of the Directorate of Geology and Mining, emphasized the importance of ensuring raw material availability to enhance steel production by 2030.

Joint Director & Nodal Officer (Auction) Mr. Anurag Diwan stated that Chhattisgarh is one of the most favorable states for industrial investment and will play a vital role in the vision of a developed India by 2047.

As part of the auction process, online tender documents can be purchased until 3 PM on 27 February 2025, with the final submission deadline being 3 PM on 28 February 2025. Interested bidders can visit the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Indravati Bhawan, Block-4, Second Floor, Nawa Raipur, for detailed information.

The pre-bid conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from mining companies, industrial groups, and investors across the country. The high-quality iron ore reserves in Bailadila and the favorable investment environment in Chhattisgarh have generated positive interest in the auction process. This initiative marks a significant step towards establishing Chhattisgarh as a leading state in mining and steel production.
