Raipur >> Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Saye emphasized that the state government has taken significant actions to empower the dairy industry in Chhattisgarh, mirroring the success of the “White Revolution,” with a focus on boosting farmers’ and livestock owners’ income. He explained that a pilot project, developed in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), aims to make dairy farming a profitable venture and ensure self-reliance in milk production in the state. Extensive initiatives will follow under this project.
During a meeting to review the activities of the Animal Husbandry Department at Mahanadi Bhawan, the Chief Minister highlighted that following the December 2024 agreement between the state government and NDDB, rapid steps are being taken to enhance milk production in Chhattisgarh.
He pointed out that a large portion of the state’s population is engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry for supplementary income. The state government is investing around ₹5 crore in this project to ensure its successful execution across six districts, with plans for statewide expansion after its success.
Rural Economy Strengthened and Nutrition Campaign Benefitted
The Chief Minister underlined that dairy industry development will invigorate the rural economy, create new employment opportunities for the youth, and improve nutritional standards, particularly benefiting children and women’s health. He directed officials to formulate a robust strategy to increase milk production, boost per capita milk availability, and find ways to effectively utilize surplus milk.
Chhattisgarh’s Determination to Achieve Dairy Self-Sufficiency
Saye expressed confidence that the successful implementation of the pilot project will enable Chhattisgarh to become self-sufficient in dairy production. He also discussed a long-term plan to enhance dairy development, livestock productivity, animal breeding, and nutrition.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to economic empowerment of farmers and livestock owners, ensuring that modern technology and scientific methods will propel milk production to new heights. The government is determined to bolster milk production and further strengthen the rural economy.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Subodh Singh, Agriculture Production Commissioner Mrs. Shehla Nigar, Director of Animal Husbandry Rimijiyus Ekka, and other senior officials.
