Democracy Triumphs in Bastar, Violence Rejected

State’s Three-Tier Panchayat Election: Historic Victory of Democracy Over Naxalism, Democracy’s Voice Echoes in Bastar Villages After Decades

People Choose the Path of Development, Reject Violence – CM Sayi

Raipur >>The first phase of the three-tier Panchayat election in Chhattisgarh has marked a historic achievement for democracy. Bastar division, which remained under the shadow of Naxalism for decades, is now moving towards the light of democracy. For the first time in many decades, voters in several polling stations of Sukma and Bijapur districts have participated in the rural Panchayat elections.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sayi said that the people of Bastar have chosen the path of development and shown violence the way out. He added that this change is the result of the state and central government’s strong will, continuous development efforts, and robust security arrangements. This is not just an election; it is a sign of the growing trust in democracy and the steps being taken towards a fear-free society in Naxal-affected areas.

The fact that there was no opposition from Naxalites in the Panchayat elections in Bastar is the result of the establishment of over 40 new security camps and the government’s strategy to build trust among villagers. Notably, even in the village of the Naxal commander Hidma in Puvarti, villagers are excited to vote this time. This marks a historic change and signifies a victory of democratic values.

There was also tremendous enthusiasm seen in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Dantewada, and Gariaband districts regarding the elections. In areas like Pusnar, Gangalur, Cherpal, Reddy, and Palanar in Bijapur, villagers voted fearlessly.

Strong Roots of Democracy in Bastar, Historic Step Towards Ending Naxalism

CM Sayi stated that the process of eliminating Naxalism in Bastar has reached a decisive stage. Following the resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the goal has been set to make Chhattisgarh Naxalism-free by March 2026. The state government is committed to connecting the citizens of Bastar with development, education, health, employment, and basic amenities. Priority is being given to roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and employment projects in Bastar, which has strengthened the faith of villagers in governance and democracy.

On this historic achievement, CM Vishnu Dev Sayi remarked that in Bastar, the victory of democracy over Naxalism is now being realized. This is the victory of all the villagers who, having shed fear, embraced democracy. It is the result of the hard work of security forces, the government’s foresight, and public participation.

In this victory of democracy, the participation of every citizen is crucial. He emphasized that the successful and peaceful conduct of elections in Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh proves that people’s faith in democracy is growing day by day. Every citizen’s involvement is key to this success, and the state’s voters have shown that they are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities.
