Bhilai Steel Plant Sets New Production and Dispatch Records in December 2024
Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has achieved remarkable milestones in December 2024, setting new records in production and dispatches.
The plant recorded a total long rail loading of 35,19,010 tonnes in December 2024, surpassing the previous record of 35,17,681 tonnes set in December 2023-24. This marks a significant achievement in the plant’s long rail production.
In the Rail Structural Mill, long rail loading reached 1,35,043 tonnes in December 2024, surpassing the 1,20,103 tonnes achieved in the same month last year. Similarly, the Universal Rail Mill achieved a long rail loading of 6,05,820 tonnes, surpassing the previous record of 6,02,880 tonnes set in December 2023-24. Together, the total long rail loading from both mills stood at 7,40,863 tonnes, a considerable increase from the 7,22,983 tonnes in December 2023-24.
The plant also set a new record for direct dispatch, loading 20,98,382 tonnes in December 2024, surpassing the 20,68,828 tonnes in the same period last year. Additionally, the total sellable steel loading reached 38,65,923 tonnes, exceeding the 37,56,051 tonnes dispatched in December 2023.
From a technical-economic perspective, BSP’s Blast Furnaces achieved their best-ever coke rate of 432 kg per ton of hot metal (Kg/THM), slightly surpassing the previous record of 446 Kg/THM set in December 2020. The plant also registered the highest-ever CDI rate of 139 Kg/THM, compared to 118 Kg/THM in December 2023.
With these outstanding achievements, Bhilai Steel Plant continues to lead in operational excellence, setting new standards in the steel industry for production and dispatch efficiency.
