Deputy Chief Minister Attends Urban Body Officers-Employees Conference

Raipur >>Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration & Development Minister Arun Saw attended the Chhattisgarh Urban Body Officers-Employees Conference held at the Late Balbeer Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur. The conference, organized for the first time by various officers and employee unions of urban bodies, was a provincial-level event. Saw also inaugurated the EV Fast Charging Station during the event. Raipur’s MP Brijmohan Agrawal and MLAs Sunil Soni and Purandar Mishra were also present.

Addressing the conference as the chief guest, Arun Saw emphasized that after assuming responsibility for the Urban Administration & Development Department, the welfare of employees working in urban bodies has been his priority since day one. Over the past year, there has been active progress in cases of compassionate appointments and promotions. The department has approved 353 new positions while considering pending compassionate appointment cases with sensitivity. He further instructed all urban bodies to complete the process of compassionate appointments for these new positions by January 10. Promotion processes are also ongoing in the department, with 36 employees recently promoted to CMO positions after engineers’ promotions. Efforts are being made to review the setups of all urban bodies.

Saw stated that the government is sensitive to the needs and demands of employees. In the past year, ₹373 crore has been released to urban bodies for salary payments. Today, he signed the release of ₹51.77 crore for pending salaries. The government is also in talks with the Finance Department regarding the arrears of the 6th and 7th Pay Commissions, as well as OPS.

Saw shared that the department is working on restructuring urban bodies and strengthening their operations. He assured that the Chhattisgarh government stands with its officers and employees in both happy and difficult times and is always ready to resolve their issues.

Saw further addressed the employees by recognizing the vital role of urban body employees in shaping the cities and improving the lives of the citizens. He urged them to work with a sense of ownership and dedication to strengthen their urban bodies.

MP Brijmohan Agrawal and MLA Sunil Soni also addressed the conference, emphasizing the importance of enhancing employee efficiency through capacity building and training programs.
