On 08th January 2025, Wednesday, at 12:00 PM, the reservation process for the District Panchayat areas and Presidents of Janpad Panchayat Bilha, Takhtpur, Kota, and Masturi in Bilaspur District was conducted by the authorized officer, Mr. Shivkumar Banerjee, Additional Collector of Bilaspur District.
In the Bilaspur District Panchayat, a total of 17 District Panchayat areas are designated, including 04 seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 03 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 01 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), and 09 unreserved seats. For the year 2019-20, specific areas were reserved for different categories. Areas 02, 04, 12 were reserved for ST women, and areas 15 and 16 were reserved for SC. For OBC, areas 05, 09, 14, and 10 were designated, with areas 10 and 14 reserved for OBC women.
For the year 2024-25, after the cyclical reservation process, areas 02 and 12 were released from ST and 11 and 13 were reserved for ST women. Areas 15 and 16 were freed from SC, and 16 and 17 were reserved for SC women. For OBC, area 01 was reserved.
A lottery process was conducted to allocate 5 unreserved seats for women, and areas 03, 04, 06, 09, and 14 were reserved for women, while areas 05, 07, 08, and 10 became fully unreserved.
The reservation process for the 17 seats of the Bilaspur District Panchayat was thus completed.
Similarly, the posts of Janpad Panchayat Presidents were reserved in 2019-20 for Scheduled Caste (SC) women for Bilha, Scheduled Tribe (ST) for Kota, Other Backward Classes (OBC) women for Masturi, and unreserved women for Takhtpur. For the 2024-25 elections, a lottery was conducted, and the positions were reserved as follows: Bilha became unreserved, Masturi was reserved for ST women, Kota for unreserved women, and Takhtpur for SC women.
