Benefits of Increased Farmers’ Income in Chhattisgarh Extend to the Automobile Industry and the Entire Economy: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai Inaugurates RADA Auto Expo 2025
Chhattisgarh Government Offers a 50% Lifetime Road Tax Discount
Raipur >>
I had the opportunity to serve as an MLA twice during the undivided Madhya Pradesh era, during which I spent eight years traveling on a motorcycle to meet people, hear their problems, and visit my constituency. Much has changed since then. The increased income of farmers in Chhattisgarh has positively impacted the automobile industry and the economy as a whole, with visible effects in every sector, said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. He was speaking at the inauguration of the RADA Auto Expo 2025 at Science College Ground in Raipur.
The Chief Minister praised the event, noting that more than 10,000 vehicles were sold at last year’s auto expo. He announced that the state government has decided to offer a 50% one-time lifetime road tax discount this year. I believe this decision will boost vehicle sales at the expo, potentially reaching 20,000 units. Events like this, where a wide range of vehicles catering to various needs are available in one place, are commendable, he added.
Highlighting the growth of the auto sector, the Chief Minister stated, Farmers in the state are receiving the highest price for paddy, which is benefiting every sector. Last year, 24.72 lakh farmers sold 145 lakh metric tons of paddy. This year, the record is expected to be surpassed, with around 27 lakh registered farmers projected to produce approximately 160 lakh metric tons of paddy.
Speaker Dr. Raman Singh’s Remarks
Speaker Dr. Raman Singh reflected on Chhattisgarh’s journey, stating, There was a time when Chhattisgarh was considered economically backward. Today, after 25 years, the state stands on its own. The government is purchasing paddy from farmers at ₹3,100 per quintal. The prosperity of farmers benefits everyone. Thanks to initiatives by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, a robust network of roads is being developed in Chhattisgarh. However, with rapid road construction, accidents are also increasing, and it is crucial to adhere to traffic rules and safety measures.
MP Brijmohan Agrawal’s Statement
MP Brijmohan Agrawal emphasized the importance of automobiles as a key means of connectivity. With direct payments to farmers, Chhattisgarh’s auto sector is growing rapidly. Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership, the 50% lifetime road tax discount will benefit a large number of middle-class families. While vehicle sales are important, ensuring safety on the roads is equally essential. Road safety awareness is crucial for implementation.
The Chief Minister launched the Honda SP 125 and Audi Q7 vehicles at the auto expo and honored individuals who have made significant contributions to road safety. He also unveiled a road safety poster and handed over the keys to the first customer of the expo. Additionally, the Raipur Automobile Dealers Association (RADA) contributed ₹5 lakh for road safety under CSR initiatives.
Prominent attendees included MLAs Rajesh Munat and Motilal Sahu, former MLA Rajkamal Singhania, Transport Secretary S. Prakash, Additional Transport Commissioner D. Ravishankar, RADA President Ravindra Bhasin, Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce President Amar Parwani, and RADA members, along with the general public.
