Workshop on Outcome-Based Education at NIT Raipur Concludes
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur, in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal, concluded its Capacity Building Program on Outcome-Based Education on January 24, 2025. The workshop, held from January 22 to 24, aimed to enhance the understanding and implementation of outcome-based education practices among teachers.
The closing session was attended by Dean (Academic) Dr. Shresh Varma as the chief guest, Dean (FW) Dr. Debashish Sanyal as the patron, and Professor Dr. Shubhasish Sanyal from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Badrilal Gupta and Dr. Hussain Jeevakhana from NITTTR, Bhopal, participated as special guests and expert lecturers. Dr. Lata S.B. Upadhyay and Dr. Mridu Sahu, Associate Dean (FW), also graced the event.
The event was organized by the Faculty Welfare Office to promote faculty development for first-year courses. Discussions during the three-day workshop focused on NEP 2020 and NBA guidelines. Experts from NITTTR also shared insights on the E-examination and Outcome-Based Learning Platform.
Dr. Sanyal appreciated the efforts of senior faculty members in organizing the workshop and highlighted the importance of effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices, which were key components of the program. He expressed gratitude for the valuable information provided by the NITTTR experts. Dr. D. Sanyal shared practical experiences and provided guidance to the teachers, emphasizing the need to maintain a clear distinction between personal and professional life and to keep organized records.
Dr. Varma spoke about the transformative changes in academic practices over the last four years and stressed the importance of outcome-based teaching to inspire learning and innovation. He also discussed innovative approaches like chatbot interactions to increase engagement and advocated for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), focusing on the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) and National Credit Framework (NCRF).
A total of 37 participants from NIT Raipur and BIT Raipur attended the workshop. Following the session, participants provided feedback and appreciated the organizing team for delivering an impactful teaching experience. The workshop concluded with the national anthem.
