On February 9, 2025, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated the newly constructed Road Overbridge (ROB) at Level Crossing No. 02 in Bettiah. The inauguration was carried out symbolically by women, representing the strength of Nari Shakti.

During the event, local MPs and the public demanded the launch of the Vande Bharat train between Gorakhpur and Patna via Bettiah. The Minister assured them that the request would be considered and highlighted the expansion of Vande Bharat trains across India.

Shri Vaishnaw also reviewed the redevelopment work at Bettiah station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and inspected its 3D model.

Later, in a press conference at Bettiah station, he announced a record ₹10,066 crore railway budget allocation for Bihar for 2025, a significant increase from ₹1,132 crore during 2009-2014. This funding boost has accelerated projects such as new railway lines, electrification, and station modernization.

He further stated that Bihar is undergoing a ₹95,566 crore railway investment, ensuring complete transformation within the next five years. Electrification has been completed across 3,020 km since 2014, making Bihar’s railway 100% electrified.

Additionally, major railway infrastructure projects, including the doubling of the Narkatiaganj-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga section, have been approved. The ongoing Valmikinagar-Sagauli and Sagauli-Muzaffarpur track doubling will enhance train operations in the region.
