Chhattisgarh’s Education Should Be World-Class: MP Brijmohan Agrawal
New Delhi/Raipur>>
Senior BJP leader and Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal raised key concerns in the Lok Sabha regarding the state of education in rural Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. He questioned the government about the challenges students face in accessing quality education and the steps being taken to enhance teacher training.
Challenges in Rural Education
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed that under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, the central government is providing financial and technical support to states. Raipur district currently has 2,415 schools with 539,907 students, of which 49.63% are girls.
MP Agrawal also inquired about the expansion of digital education in rural areas. In response, the government highlighted the PM e-Vidya initiative, which has facilitated the establishment of smart classrooms and ICT labs in Chhattisgarh.
Strengthening Teacher Training and Infrastructure
To improve teacher training, SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) and DIET (District Institutes of Education and Training) are conducting specialized programs in Chhattisgarh. Additionally, the NISHTHA training program is equipping teachers with modern teaching methodologies.
MP Agrawal emphasized the need to expand smart classrooms, ICT labs, and teacher training initiatives to improve educational standards in Chhattisgarh. He also stressed the importance of innovation and digital learning in tackling rural education challenges.
Impact of Socio-Economic Conditions on Education
Education in Raipur is deeply influenced by socio-economic factors. Due to the region’s agrarian economy, many students are forced to drop out of school. In response, the government has launched initiatives such as residential schools, scholarship programs, and quality education projects to address these challenges.
Advancing Digital Education
Under PM e-Vidya, Chhattisgarh has established 10,439 smart classrooms, and 3,777 ICT labs. The government is also promoting e-learning content, digital boards, and online educational resources.
Bridging the Gap Between Private and Government Schools
MP Agrawal raised concerns over the quality disparity between private and government schools. Government data shows that 71.8% of students are enrolled in government schools, while 28.2% attend private institutions. The PM Shri Schools and Adarsh Vidyalaya Yojana aim to elevate government school standards to match those of private schools.
Enhancing rural education remains a top priority for our government. Several initiatives have been launched by the central government to improve digital learning, teacher training, and educational infrastructure. It is crucial to ensure that children in rural areas receive the same quality education as those in urban regions. I will continue to work closely with the central government to bring significant improvements to Chhattisgarh’s education system.
He stressed the importance of effective monitoring mechanisms to ensure that initiatives like digital education and smart classrooms are properly implemented and benefit students.
MP Agrawal also urged the government to increase the number of teachers in rural areas, expand digital learning initiatives, and strengthen teacher training programs. He called for special measures to reduce dropout rates and ensure that Chhattisgarh’s education system meets global standards.
Expressing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, he assured that major educational reforms would take place in Chhattisgarh, ensuring equal learning opportunities for all students.
